Aims and Objectives
- To enhance understanding for staff on how Covid-19 and subsequent restrictions has impacted both their students and themselves
- To develop a broad understanding of trauma and it’s impact on our emotional, physical, mental and social health
- To understand and apply a trauma framework to Covid-19 restrictions, understanding the ‘pre-conditions for trauma’ that have been created by the pandemic
- To understand how different young people have been impacted differently
- To understand behaviour using this trauma lens and to provide support and strategies accordingly
Training will be presented live via Microsoft Teams on a number of dates throughout September and once monthly in October and November. You can join the training 15 minutes prior to start time, please join the training on time as a registration will be taken to ensure that you can then be emailed materials on completion of the training.

Understand the needs of children and young people with a Statement of SEN for Social, Behavioural, Emotional and Wellbeing (SBEW) needs
Enable Classroom Assistants to use a range of Strategies and resources to promote inclusion of children and young people with a Statement of SEN for Social, Behavioural, Emotional and Wellbeing needs
Explore Strategies which can be used to reconnect the existing relationships and to develop new positive relationships with pupils who have SBEW needs.
Understand the importance of resilience development for pupils with SBEW needs.
Identify effective practice which will nurture the development of resilience for pupils with SBEW needs.
Identify the skills, support and strategies that can be used to nurture belonging, raise self-awareness and to reduce tension for pupils with SBEW needs.
Please note: This course consists of 3 sessions: Reconnecting Relationships, Building Resilience and Planning Support -Participants must attend all 3 sessions

Use the calm plan framework to help recognise dysregulation in yourself and your pupils
Develop an understanding of how to help pupils feel safe and connected
Understand the process of developing a supported calm plan based on nurture principles and trauma informed practice
