Are you keen for effective, cost-free, time-efficient ways to engage pupils and meet curriculum objectives? Look no further; this really is the course for you! You will see how LearningNI’s new interface opens up an Aladdin’s cave of learning and teaching opportunities provided free to all pupils and teachers in NI schools. Blended learning offers a way of integrating your own course material with exciting collaborative activities. You will investigate a range of ways of developing pupils’ thinking skills and personal capabilities and will have the opportunity to collate and structure learning resources for a topic or theme for the new school year. You are encouraged to bring along some of your own resources for a topic (documents, web links, images etc) on a USB pen. Learning and teaching approaches which blend e-learning and more traditional methods prove motivating for our post digital-age learners and prepare them for the skills-based economy in which they will work. Virtual Learning Environments also offer great benefits to pupils who are educated off-site either on a long or short term basis. Perhaps you would like to join forces with a colleague and work together to develop a topic or theme which blends traditional and e-learning methods? You will find it helpful to share ideas and experiences with other teachers.
To investigate the benefits of blending e-learning into learning and teaching. To consider key aspects of a Virtual Learning Environment (LearningNI). To provide teachers with a bank of resources and collaborative ideas relevant to particular curriculum areas.
At the end of the programme participants will: • Have searched LearningNI and discovered resources suitable for individual learning and teaching needs • Have a bank of resources and collaborative ideas for use within/across curriculum areas • Know how to develop a blended course in LearningNI
The course is targeted at mainstream primary and post-primary teachers. Teachers of pupils with moderate learning difficulties may also be interested in attending. In order to fully benefit from this hands-on course, we recommend that all participants have good basic ICT skills.
