Mark Goody
The course has been designed to meet the criteria laid down in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) published by Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) which became law in mainland GB on 1st September 2008. (Please note that this legislation is not in force in Northern Ireland and may not come into force in the future.) Topics covered range from your legal obligations to dealing with both minor and major emergencies presented by the types of injury and illnesses commonly experienced by young children. The above topics are introduced into the course in a logical sequence using a range of presentational methods including PowerPoint and DVD and interspersed with numerous practical sessions and “desktop exercises” aimed at aiding every candidate assimilate the required knowledge and skills and instilling the confidence to use them, no matter what their individual learning style.
To give nursery and primary school staff the knowledge and skills to deal with common illnesses and injuries for young children.
By the end of the course the candidates will, by means of classroom exercises and a series of formal assessments, be able to: - Demonstrate their ability to diagnose and render appropriate emergency First Aid for a range of conditions and injuries that may affect a casualty. - Demonstrate practical competence in CPR using child and baby protocols, placing a casualty in the recovery position and dealing with bleeding and broken bones.
Nursery and Primary Schools, Teaching staff, Administration staff, Caretaking staff, Catering staff. (I would encourage principals to consider which among their staff could leave their duties immediately to deal with emergencies.)
Mark Goody has ten years of experience as a First Aid trainer and facilitator, involved in the recruitment and training of youth workers.
